Sydney Street Crew has been in existence since October 2017, which means as of writing this we are 5 years and 9 months old, which is extremely young for a football centric club. Obviously created to play elite level alternate and urban football, SSC has been through numerous stages in it’s journey. I do also want to mention the 2 years removed due to the lockdown experienced by all around Australia, so if you look at it through that lens, we are only 4 years into the growth of SSC.
You know the behind the scenes by now surely, the focus now is on what is next…. I can split that up into a few small categories, the majority of which will take SSC from a small group of futsal and street football enthusiasts into a global powerhouse.
Firstly we have our media and production company that has splintered off and formed through SSC. You may have noticed this company as our latest kit sponsor, that company goes by the name GONE20, pronounced “Gone To Zero”. The focus of GONE20 is to film high end documentary films and docu-series around SSC to be released on global streaming platforms. Our latest film “This Is What It Takes” will soon be released on the Kevin Garnett owned streaming service VEEM.TV, putting SSC in the company of NBA legends and current NBA stars as they have their own shows on the service. Our next project is a Docu-Series that follows SSC as they embark on the Australian National Futsal League, which will take SSC all over Australia. Our next feature film length documentary is also in planning to be shot in mid 2024 at the street football world cup in Latvia. These films will allow SSC to transcend the level we are at currently and open us up to a global sporting audience.
Secondly we have Streetball. You may have seen the Streetball tab on our website and wondered what they might be. Streetball is the animated children's TV series built around the journey of Slavi and SSC. This is a very exciting project that is a co-production between SSC, Xentrix Studios, Kalidor Media Group and Viskatoons. Streetball has been in the works since late 2020 and has only recently been showcased in a one minute teaser. The next stage for Streetball is deciding who will air the show and where it will be seen, non the less the show will bring in a whole youth audience that will have the ability to watch the show growing up which will allow them to transition into watching the GONE20 produced docu-films or series.
Finally we have the professional league and tournament scene. SSC will always play in local leagues as a way of training, but our main focus moving into late 2023 and early 2024 is to prioritize international tours and national tournaments, as this will align the club with elite clubs in Australia and Globally. We want SSC to be seen as the Street Football Club that is a true powerhouse, as there is no true club that is the face of our sport, we intent to become that face, and that only happens through competing and winning at the top level. Meaning our focus will be on the Australian national Futsal League, Supa Liga National Futsal Tournament Australia, Ghetto Games 3v3 World Cup 2024 and any further international events that we can become a part of.
Sydney Street Crew has achieved beyond ambitious goals to get to the stage that we are at, but the truth is that we haven’t even begun our rise yet, this is all the behind the scenes and groundwork. Following this roadmap SSC will become something much greater, time will show that.
